Sunny

For you, Our darling, Sunny.

We found you in a cat sanctuary with Bonnie, frightened and wild after the human cruelty you had experienced in your short life as a kitten.

You had been beaten, and were terrified of humans. The cat sanctuary owner would pick you up for a cuddle every day, and you would spit and hiss, and roll up into a ball to protect yourself. You also had cat flu and were so unwell.

Bonnie came home first, and you missed her. But you were reunited together and sat under the christmas tree, next to the photo of our other cat Marmalade.

I felt your pain, and your lonely fear. I reached out to you by feeding you, getting nearer and nearer to you. You spat and you hissed in terror, but eventually we became kin. You would then approach me for cuddles, and watch me sleep at night close by. When I collapsed and was unable to walk, I saw how frightened you were, and loved watching your little face light up when I returned from hospital.

Then one day you disappeared, away from those who loved you, away from Bonnie, and we knew something must have happened to you. Wherever you are Sunny, you are not lonely and lost anymore. You are close by me in my heart, forever.
