When we saw you at Petsmart that day for adoptions
I just knew that I had to have you in my life
That beautiful grey fur, the fluffy tail
And your loving disposition

We bought a cage to bring you home in
And when we got home Josh asked what was in the cage
When he saw you his eyes lit up as much as mine had
Oh we knew that you would be a blessing in our lives

We got you because of all I had been through
The sadness, stress and grief
We knew that you would bring some sunshine in to my life
And you would be a friend for Josh’s cat Newt

You slept in Josh’s room with Newt
And you two were the best of buddies
You got along instantly and shared your toys
And even shared your food

We never knew that your time with us would be so short
We thought that you would be around for years
Instead you came to us on November 12, 2005
And left us on January 13, 2006

Oh sweet Jackson, you were only about 9 months old
But the health problems that you had we could not stop
And at the end you were in such bad shape
And watching you just broke my heart

I knew that I couldn’t do anything to help you
You were having seizures, pneumonia and the ear problem
You wouldn’t eat and wouldn’t drink
And your body was so so cold

So with sadness in our hearts, and tears in our eyes
We decided to let you go so you would have some peace
We all said our goodbyes, dad, Josh, Newt and mom
But it was so hard because we loved you so

Jackson, you will always be a part of our lives
Even though your time with us was so short
While you were here you did bring us sunshine
And love that we will always hold dear
