Macy Mae
Born: March 17, 1996
Died: November 27, 2005
Macy Mae came into my life in June of 1996 as a kitten with a heart full of love to give. She was the best cat I've ever had, which is saying a lot since I've probably owned about 100 cats in my lifetime. She always could tell when I was sad or upset, and would run and jump into my lap in an effort to comfort me. That's why I believe our pets become so close to our hearts, since they don't use spoken words. They just know when we need a loving touch, a nuzzle, a "Meow", or (my favorite) a "head butt" that only a cat can give in a loving way. She was a beautiful gray and black spotted tabby, with white on her belly, nose and socks. Although she was a rather large cat (nearly 14 pounds), she was a gentle giant. There wasn't a mean bone in her body. She loved anyone who would pet her, and never ran to hide when visitors came to my home. She's mingle amoungst the guests as if she were a hostess as well. I especially miss how she's wrap herself around m y head on my pillow at night while I was sleeping. Or her crawling underneath the covers with me on particularly cold nights. She had a long, wonderful, eventful and fun life. She passed on Sunday, November 27th, 2005 at approximately 1pm, Central time, due to complications after a dog attacked her.
My only comfort is knowing that her sacrifice could be a lesson to all pet owners out there. PLEASE keep your cats in the house or inside your own yard, and ALWAYS, ALWAYS have your dogs on a leash when outside of your home or yard. No pet should EVER roam freely; they could be hit by a car, stolen by someone that's cruel to animals, or hurt your neighbor's children or pets. Part of being a loving pet owner is taking RESPONSIBILITY for your pets in every way. NEVER allow your pets to roam the neighborhood, and always keep an ID tag on their collar at all times. Please pass this on to your family and friends; it might save their pets' life.
