Rocky,
We LOVE you and you will ALWAYS be in our hearts.
Julian wants to thank you for waiting for him every morning to wake up just so you can give him your paw and wet kisses. Also for helping him with his dinner. Please continue to protect him, just as you did when you were home with us. He loves you very much.
Thank you for keeping me company, especially when the men of the house were out. I know you are still here, taking care of me as usual. I love you my little Rocky.
Grandpa misses you greeting him after a hard day of work. He catches himself calling you whenever he drops food, he remembers the many times you’d come running whenever you heard food hit the floor. He also remembers the day you learned how to go up and down the stairs and how proud you were to show him. He literally had to carry you so you wouldn’t hurt yourself. He loves you very much.
“Rocky”
In every corner of our house there is now an empty space. As we
make our way upstairs when we come home from work & school, we
wait for you to greet us, but no longer can we see your precious
little face.
Day after day we reach out to touch you, just we like use to
while you lay at the top step, but then we remember you are
no longer with us, instead in God’s arms and in a much better
place.
Rocky, we remember your house rule for family and friends,
“Please don’t knock or ring the doorbell because my bark will
announce you before you reach our steps”. Your bark was so
loud, as if to say to them, ”You are now entering my home
and my family I will protect”. But once you saw and felt
the love from those that entered, you forgot about your own
rule and vied for their affection. Everyone loved you,
young and old alike, for once their visit was over, a piece
of Rocky they took in their hearts.
You protected Julian and loved to romp around that even when
we’d wrestle, to his rescue you would bounce. You’d pretend
you were biting me so I would let him win, and all of this I’m
certain was just to humor him. He loved that and of course
he’d laugh and giggle, so in the end your reward was to roll
you on your back and your belly he would jiggle.
You were so intelligent Rocky, and as if to test our love for
you, your timing for going out was always right on cue. You
loved going, but made it a habit to go out when we were in the
middle of eating dinner or watching one of many Yankees
thrilling games. Of course we’d surrender and take turns
with you. After all, how could we say no to you, and once
again in the middle of an exciting inning, down the stairs
we would go.
Thank you for keeping us company and brightening our days.
You started up our mornings and brought us peace at night in
your own “Rocky” way. We will always love you and in our
hearts you’ll always be. Your little paws touched our hearts
softly, but when you left, the empty space that remains will
only be filled when in heaven we hold you once again.
Dogs In Heaven?
A young boy and his dog were walking down this dirt road with
fences on both sides, they came to a gate in the fence and
looked in, it was nice grassy, woody areas, just what a 'huntin'
dog and boy would like, but, it had a sign saying
'no trespassing' so they walked on. They came to a beautiful
gate with a person in white robes standing there. "Welcome to
Heaven" he said. The young boy was happy and started in with
his dog following him. The gatekeeper stopped him. "Dogs aren't
allowed, I'm sorry but he can't come with you."
"What kind of Heaven won't allow dogs? If he can't come in, then I will stay out with him. He's been my faithful companion all his life, I can't desert him now."
"Suit yourself, but I have to warn you, the Devil's on this road and he'll try to sweet talk you into his area, he'll promise you anything, but the dog can't go there either. If you won't leave the dog, you'll spend Eternity on this road."
So the young boy and dog went on. They came to a rundown fence with a gap in it, no gate, just a hole. An old man was inside. "S'cuse me Sir, my dog and I are getting mighty tired, mind if we come in and sit in the shade for awhile?"
"Of course, there's some cold water under that tree over there. Make yourselves comfortable"
"You're sure my dog can come in? The man down the road said dogs weren't allowed anywhere."
"Would you come in if you had to leave the dog?"
"No sir, that's why I didn't go to Heaven, he said the dog
couldn't come in.
We'll be spending Eternity on this road, and a glass of cold
water and some shade would be mighty fine right about now.
But, I won't come in if my buddy Rocky here can't come too,
and that's final."
The man smiled a big smile and said "Welcome to Heaven."
"You mean this is Heaven? Dogs ARE allowed? How come that fellow down the road said they weren't?"
"That was the Devil and he gets all the people who are willing to give up a life long companion for a comfortable place to stay. They soon find out their mistake, but then it's too late. The dogs come here, the fickle people stay there. GOD wouldn't allow dogs to be banned from Heaven. After all, HE created them to be man's companions in life, why would he separate them in death?"
If tears could build a stairway
and heartache make a lane,
We'd walk the path to heaven
and bring you home again.
Our family chain is broken,
and nothing seems the same.
But as God calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
