Axl Fritz Guinty

Born: December 27, 1998

Died: May 28, 2008

We lost our boy, our beautiful White German Shepherd, at home Wednesday night. He died in my arms with my two sons also there. My husband is stationed in Afghanistan and is just beside himself at not being able to be home when our sweet Axl passed away.

Axl was like a big, sweet angel in our lives. He was so compassionate and we always said "he has alot of love to give". We already miss him dearly and our hearts are truly broken. He was our gentle giant and loved everyone he met. He always wanted to play and would carry at least 2 toys in his mouth at once....or 3 or 4 frisbees and he loved his squeaky toys: his monkey, cow, etc. People often referred to him as a Polar Bear....he was so big and white! Axl and I were best friends....my husband would often say, "does he always have to be touching you??" He was always at my side, touching his head on my leg, or if I was sitting...he had his head resting in my lap. I will miss my walking buddy, my hug buddy and my protector. He was a constant companion to our family. As much a child to my husband and I as our sons are.

Axl's spleen ruptured on Dec. 5th, 2007. They told us the tumor was a Hemangiosarcoma. The good news was that they didn't see any other visible tumor growth when they removed his spleen. He was given 2 - 4 months to live....he lived almost another 6 months. I gave him supplements daily and tried everything I could to keep him healthy. He was doing so well until a few weeks ago. I still can't believe we lost the battle with him. We do feel blessed to have had the extra 6 months with him, as he could have easily died back in December from all the blood loss and surgery trauma he experienced. He was such a fighter until the end.

He has been buried on our family land next to our other German Shepherd, Buck, who died on October 10th, 1998. We have been blessed with having two of the sweetest dogs ever born onto this earth.

My heart is broken and I don't know when the pain will start to subside. He will never be forgotten.

Rest in Peace, our dear Angel, Axl Fritz Guinty.......we love you forever, you're forever in our hearts.

With so much love, your "Lady Mom", "Big D", Shawn, Jake and your two feline friends, Daisy and Roseanne
