Our beloved Harley (Pembroke Welsh Corgi) brought our family 14 years of joy and laughter. We got him as a 14 week old puppy from Petland in the mall. Our family of 4 boys ages 8,9,11,12 at the time were out shopping for school clothes. I told them to go and look at the puppies and kittens while I shopped in Hudson's. My husband and boys were looking at one very cute pup and asked if they could hold him. I said "oh NO you never hold them!" Well we did hold him and the kids begged to take him home, he had been there a month so we rescued him from Petland and brought him home. We named him Harley because he was a "low-rider". He was a little stinker as a puppy but grew up to be a well trained dog. Years later we were watching a special about "puppy mills" and I said "why does that name sound so familiar"? I got Harley's AKC registration papers to look at and sure enough Harley had been a "puppy mill" dog! He had many adventures in his lifetime and we said he must have h ad nine lives, he was even attacked by a coyote and lived to "tell the tale". He also liked to get skunked! He raised 4 boys into young men and was dearly loved by all. Everyone who met him loved him and always remembered him. We miss him alot and he has left a big furry hole in our hearts. We know he is with our Lord because the day after he was put to sleep, my husband was outside in the morning before sun up, the stars were very bright and clear. He asked the Lord to show him a sign that Harley was OK. Two seconds later a shooting star shot across the sky west to east. We believe it was Harley's star and he is at peace with God. Every Monday evening we light a candle in rememberance of him, I read somewhere people all over the world do this for their lost pets. Thank you for this website it has brought me comfort and peace during this difficult time.
