Bullet Born: March 15, 1991 Died: November 20, 2004 I adopted Bullet from my local SPCA animal shelter on September 19, 1992. I'd had many cats but he was my first dog. I had no idea what I was in for! Bullet quickly won my heart, became my best friend and my soul mate. We went dog sledding up north in the winter and hiking in the summer, he dug holes on the sidelines of tennis courts while I played... I rarely went anyplace he couldn't come. When Bullet was 9 he was diagnosed with lymphoma. He had chemotherapy and went into remission right away. He was a lymphoma survivor and also survived heart disease for two years. At the vet's office, he was known as the Magic Bullet. Although he became less active as he aged, he was happy and having him with me made me happy. I lost my precious boy on November 20th 2004, at almost 14 years old, due to renal failure. But he's left a legacy. He's the star of my book (Help Your Dog Fight Cancer). Also, I created a fund in his honor, in his memory, called The Magic Bullet Fund, to help more dogs survive cancer. Bullet gave me his heart and now he's taken my heart with him. Some wonderful day, all the pieces of our hearts will be reunited. Laurie Kaplan |
