Lobo

Lobo

Born: 1965

Died: July 23

Although I didn't know him very well, I heard plenty of stories about this dog. He lived with my grandparents and my mom back in the days when my mom was just a teenager. Lobo was a black German Shepherd. My mom found him one day hiding in their bushes. Knowing my grandma wasn't going to allow him, she took care of him secretely. One day, my grandpa found him in the bushes. When he told my mother about him, she said she already knew. They kept taking care of Lobo for months, until, finally, my grandmother found him.

For weeks, my grandma, against, my grandpa and my mother's will, put up lost dog fliers. No one called. So she began putting up Giving Away Dog fliers. We found out years later that whenever someone called, interested in having Lobo, both my mother and grandfather told them that the dog was already taken.

Finally, my grandma folded and Lobo stayed with the family.

Lobo was a famous dog throughout our whole family, having survived a horrible pitbull attack and getting my grandpa help during an early heart attack. I was only about two when he died, but I keep a picture of him in my room. My grandpa keeps his collar still today and mother has a series of tapes that have the beautiful Shepherd in it.

Lobo is Spanish for black wolf.
