You came into my life at age eleven

Alone-surviving the brutality that left you deaf and blind

Yet your soul so brave and ever kind

Teaching me that it I who was so lost and lonely

In the quiet solitude of your world

You sang volumes to my heart

Your friendship and courage a true undying art

Instilling hope in others who faced disability

I walk the beach and feel you in the sand beneath my toes

My tears ebbing with tide

Remembering how you brought out my sunny side

As the water reflects your silly one-eyed stare

You never asked nor expected anything from me

Even as you slowly slipped away

Quietly leaving as I laid beside you to pray

I thank God for sharing a single moment in your life

Hoping that He will restore your health,your vision,your hearing as you moved beyond this place and back to your first owner who died within your first year

He loved you dearly just as I

I am so sorry you languished for so long in neglect

Humans failing to give you the tender caring and respect

That you so richly deserved and so patiently awaited

Our lives are now forever entwined

As you will be forever generously loved beyond the end of time

Oh sweet angel, brave teddy bear with a heart beat

It was such an honor to be your mom-to love you and be your human guide companion
