Luna

Luna, you were our baby friend... A big, cheerful goofy chocolate lab. You liked nothing better than to sit next to your beloved daddy on the couch and give him a "snuffy love" with your head tilted back and your eyes batting adoringly. You also loved to go fishing on "your" new fishing boat, helping your dad and eating minnows and leftover fried walleye. But you were also my girl, coming back to wait for me each morning after your dad fed you. You would watch me while I brushed my teeth and got dressed every morning without fail. I missed you this morning, so very, very much! You galloped through our lives and hearts with your boon companions Buddy & Mardi. Now Mardi is all alone and bewildered.
We are so, so sorry, and so, so heartsick. To have you struck down (by poison?) at only eight. Your suffering the last few days was agonizing to you, and to us. But still, you wagged your tail. I don't know what it will be like not having you to hold, not seeing you leap in th e pond with such joyful abandon, not hearing your tail thump in your sleep next to our bed.
I hope you didn't think we abandoned you when we left you at the vet's yesterday. I wish we would have gotten back there before you died. But we were just three minutes too late.
We buried you are right outside our bedroom window, nestled under the white pines, and close to your pond. We will always keep you on our hearts.
